There are quite a few chiropractic associations where people can find useful information about chiropractors, chiropractic therapy, and tips on locating chiropractors in their local area.
One such association is the International Chiropractors Association (ica - www.chiropractic.org/). The Website for this association gives current news regarding chiropractic, educates site visitors about the practice of chiropractic and assists visitors to find a chirapractor in their area.
American Chiropractic Association (ACA - www.amerchiro.org/) is the leading national association that represents chiropractors. They are also the largest association in the world. They offer not only education regarding what chiropractic is, but offers professional and educational opportunities for those who practice chiropractic. The Website is a one-stop place to locate information regarding chiropractic meetings and conventions, employment opportunities for chiropractors, insurance information, advocacy, professional resources, information for chiropractic patients.
Congress of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA) started sometime in the 1960's as a not-for-profit organization. The mission is to promote chiropractic professionalism by serving state associations and create a more unified, professional presence. Their Website has a membership, a leadership forum, events page, a resource center, articles and publications to help members, and a speaker’s directory.
The NCMIC is an organization founded by chiropractors that exists to help chiropractors. There are links on the site to help them with financial products and insurance products. There is information regarding continuing education and information regarding malpractice coverage. In the online resources page there is a listing of state and national member chiropractic associations.
The Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER - www.fcer.org/) was founded in 1944, making it the oldest chiropractic research-finding institution in the world according to it's Website. They boast over $10 million in funded grants, fellowships and residencies that have been handed out through the organization. FCER is an independent research foundation. The mission of FCER is in promoting and supporting well being by conducting research and education that documents the research being done in such as ways as to improve chiropractic healthcare around the world.
The World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC - www.wfc.org/) is a national association of chiropractors representing chiropractors in 85 different countries. This is a non-governmental organization. This is a membership site with information regarding different points of interest for chiropractors including a newsroom for current events affecting their profession, a resource center, and a calendar of upcoming events. The organization is an information sharing "house" for national and international organizations with the goal of providing information and various other assistance to chiropractors and other health care professionals. They encourage standard chiropractic practices, and encourage education.
There is even an international association to record the history of chiropractic. It was founded in 1980 and publishes a journal called "Chiropractic History". The association gives out an award for someone who is recognized for pioneering efforts in the field of chiropractic each year called the "Lee-Homewood Heritage Award".
Some miscellaneous chiropractic organizations are the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (www.fclb.org), the Council on Chiropractic Education (www.cce-usa.org), and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (www.chirocolleges.org).
All of these associations and organizations have one common goal – to inform society about chiropractic. They accomplish this goal in various ways that involve educating, informing and supporting the public and the chiropractic community of healthcare professionals.
